My Crochet W.I.P’s

Hey everyone, welcome to my blog! I hope you’ll stick around and we talk about crochet and yarn and all that good stuff!

The other day I was sorting through my yarn stash and looking at my W.I.P’s (works in progress for those who are unfamiliar with the term) and thought it might be nice show you what I’m currently working on.

One of my main problems is that I’m impatient and I have a short attention span. I like my projects to work up fast so I can see the end results, so I usually make a lot of quick projects or ones I know I can get done in a short amount of time, but sometimes that’s not possible and it’s why I usually have several projects on the go! If you’re anything like me I’ll bet you do the same.

Here are a few of my current W.I.P’s.

Lost Souls Skull Shawl

I absolutely love this pattern, it’s quite ambitious for a beginner but I like a challenge! I’m just doing an hour or two at a time on this because it takes a lot of concentration but I’m getting there, slowly. It’s a free pattern and available on Ravelry, you can download the pattern here...

I’m using King Cole Glitz DK in Starlight, it’s not very clear in the picture, but it gives a lovely twinkle effect. When it’s finished it’s going to be stunning.

Liquorice Allsorts Blanket

I started this a couple of months ago, I just wanted something easy to do while curled up on the sofa watching tv in the evenings. It’s just rows of double crochet stitches, two rows of colour separated by one row of black. I have to undo some of it, because I noticed that in the last few rows I did two rows of black instead of one, doh!

I’m using Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in Marine Blue and Mustard YellowKing Cole Comfort Aran in Majestic, Caron Simply Soft in Neon Pink and Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Black. I know it’s not ideal to use so many different brands all together but they were scraps from other projects so I thought I’d use them up. The colours remind me of Liquorice Allsorts so that’s what I decided to call it.

Lace Shell Infinity Scarf

I’m working on this at the moment, it’s going to be a Christmas gift for someone, I haven’t decided who yet! It’s a really simple pattern, just a two row repeat and it’s starting to look beautiful.

I’m using Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball in Healing Teal, it’s a gorgeous colour way, the picture doesn’t do it justice as the colours are really vibrant. It’s recommended that you use a size 6mm hook with this yarn, but I wanted a more closed effect and not so lacey, so I’m using a 5mm hook for this pattern.

I will write posts with the Patterns for the blanket and scarf at a later date so keep your eyes peeled for those. I would love to know what you are currently working on so let me know in the comments.

Until next time, happy crocheting!
